Tegan and Trevor: Wedding at Bay Pointe Woods
Tegan and Trevor had to reschedule their wedding twice due to COVID….and they ended up with a beautiful day for their wedding. It was very comfortable, cloudy and peaceful. The whole day felt very peaceful for me. I told my assistant, I wish all weddings were like this, it was just perfect. I hope they look back on their wedding day and feel that too. They were an absolute joy to work with and I wish them only the best!!

Trevor and I met at Indiana University back in 2011 through mutual friends. We started dating pretty quickly after we met, and ended up talking through the night on a long car ride together when we were returning from different Spring Break trips in Florida. He saved my friend and I from a crazy situation, and drove us all the way home on his own. Total gentleman 😉
Yes, I proposed! #ladypower. It was no surprise to Trevor as we had talked about getting married for many years, and we had talked about both of us proposing, so it was essentially just a race to see who would do it first. I won the race and proposed to Trevor on our anniversary (8 years!) with the gift of a comic book that detailed our love story, ending in cartoon character Tegan proposing to cartoon Trevor.
We both said the same thing, we love the kindness we see in the other person.
We both love the outdoors and enjoy spending time in nature, but we also appreciate being couch potatoes and watching TV or playing video games at home. Additionally, we love to travel, see live music, and go to the movies. And of course we are both obsessed with our furry baby JoJo, and spend at least a quarter of each day snuggling her.
We both loved the ceremony and saying the beautiful vows that my Aunt Deb (the officiant) put together. I (Tegan) wanted to kiss Trevor so badly up at the alter, before I was allowed to, because I was just so happy to be there with him! Trevor says he was blown away by how beautiful everything looked. (Especially the bride! Lol )
We originally had a tough time finding places that we liked in Illinois that weren’t already booked up for the next year 2 years. Little did we know that pandemic would extend our timeline anyway! So we started searching for places in Michigan because Trevor’s Dad’s side is from the Grand Rapids area, and found the beautiful venue of Bay Pointe Inn on Gunn Lake, where Trevor went boating with his family as a child.
As everyone says, the wedding day flew by! I think we were both pretty overwhelmed at first, getting everything in order, but then there was so much joy! Everything was so beautiful (thanks to our amazing friends and family!) and we were so happy to be surrounded by people we love so much.
Our family and friends helped us to make 1,000 cranes, which in the Japanese tradition are good luck. They hung from the pergola we were married under and looked amazing! That tradition also extended to the adorable origami animals that marked the tables and place cards.
We both wish there was more time! Everything flew by and we wish we had more time to spend with everyone.
We don’t have one special memory that comes to mind, but we have many wonderful memories from all of our travels together. From living and teaching English in Japan together, to driving across the U.S. on a cross country road trip after college, we are the most happy when wandering and exploring new places.
