I met Bonnie and Alex when I taught a photography class at their high school. They were so so cute as a couple in my class! I have loved teaching that photography class through the years and getting to know the kids through the years. Bonnie asked me to photograph her senior pictures…and now a couple years later…their wedding. I was so honored and thrilled! I seriously got all teary eyed during their “first look”! Their love story is a sweet one…aren’t all love stories! 🙂 So here is theirs … in their words….

Alex and I met my freshman year of high school and his 8th grade year. Although, we didn’t start talking or develop a friendship until the summer before my senior year when he was on my list of people to invite to a surprise party. We started dating shortly after that when I nervously told him I had feelings for him, and he eventually admitted he felt the same way. We will celebrate 5 years in August 🙂

I tried my best to fool Bonnie but she is pretty wise to that type of thing. I asked her best friend to take her out for coffee and suggest going to a park to drink it. She knew what was happening as soon as she found out which park they were going to. I was there waiting for her with a full heart and a shiny ring. Neither of us remember what was said, but all that matters is that she said yes.

Bonnie: I love that Alex is a genuinely kind and easy to get along with person. He’s charismatic and can create a connection with anyone that he meets. He makes me a more extroverted person. Alex: I love how much she wants to help everyone around her. She has the biggest heart for others and it shows every day. I admire her for being so kind and loving.

We love to bowl, and have a running talley on who has won the most games. We always have a show that we’re watching together on Netflix and like to watch while eating good food. Alex got me to love sushi, so we enjoy a nice sushi date every now and again.

Bonnie: All morning, I was feeling extremely nervous. I knew it was the nerves of the whole day building up at once. But once I walked into the sanctuary to see Alex for the first look, I felt completely fine. The first look was such a personal, sweet moment that set the tone for the rest of the day. Alex: Getting to stand up in front of all our friends and family and just express our love for each other. It was such a happy and pure moment that I will never forget.

-
Bonnie: It would have lasted longer! Alex: I would have eaten more.

Don’t sweat it. Sometimes things happen that you can’t control, and you just have to roll with it. At the end of the day, you’re married and that’s the best part ☺️

To honor God through our marriage and relationship. To work towards buying our own home. To learn to honor and love one another better every day.
