As a photographer, I am busy. Ok…I am very busy. I work really hard, and am very proud of what I have accomplished. However, the time it takes away from my family is the down side, the big negative factor in all of this. I am saying all of this because I was recently reminded about how blessed I am to have my family, my healthy family.
I heard a very sad story of a mother with small children diagnosed with cancer and her prognosis is only months to live. Just like that.
When I was in highschool, I witnessed this with a neighbor. She was diagnosed with breast cancer and died after a long valiant fight. She was a mother of two young children that I actually babysat for on occassion. I think back on that memory of her, and now that I am a mom….it hits all the harder…. it literally hurts to think about “what if that becomes of me”.
I have a deep faith in God, and know that I have no control of my future, only my present. So today, I kiss my sweet daughter good night, and wish my husband a good night at work (he works third shift) and just pray. Pray for our health, pray for our safety…and if God so chooses to test us….pray for grace.
Last month, I asked my photographer friend, Cindy, to take some family photos of us. That is one of the perks in this business…asking a buddy to photograph us, and then I edit the photos. =) Nice.
Anyway, I look at these photos and smile. We are so blessed. I am so thankful for an incredible husband, and our gift from God, Norah.
So to those of you reading this blog that have children or a husband/wife…go hug them. Tell them you love them. And be thankful….we are blessed.
