This sweet couple wanted their newborn photography session to honor their family history they have started together.
I met this couple several years ago when they chose me to become their wedding photographer. They told me over and over when they have a baby, I will see them again for the newborn photography session, and here they are! I was THRILLED to get the email stating they have a little one on the way. This is little girl is so loved and adored by her parents, its a joy to witness knowing how long they waited for her and now are blessed with their sweet baby girl.
It’s always a special treat knowing that I am photographing a families first family portrait together when their little one arrives….especially if I had the honor of photographing their wedding too!
Yes, daddy was a Marine and they asked to recreate a photograph we took at their wedding. It is similar to this one, but he is holding their wedding rings, and now he is hold their baby girl!
PS: She pooped on him while taking this shot. 😉 Welcome to parenthood dad!!
The next image is with mom’s wedding dress! Mom stated she if she had a girl this was something she really wanted to do, and we were happy to set this up for her by using the dress as the background and then the veil to cover her. I just adore this photograph and so wish I had one like this of my daughters when they were this little with my wedding dress.
If the weather allows, I love to end the session by going outside and getting some outside shots like this with newborns. Our studio has a little lawn/green space that allows us to just step outside and walk about 30 feet to get these simple outdoor shots.
This little one is a “rainbow baby”. Do you know what that means? It means “a baby born subsequent to a miscarriage, stillbirth, or the death of an infant from natural causes.” So many families go through the loss of a baby through miscarriage especially…even I know that pain all to well. All that to say, we are always THRILLED to do a rainbow baby setup to honor the little one that is not with us, and remember there is a rainbow and blessing after the storm.
Mom and Dad brought in some of their favorite stuffed animals that I am sure will be her favorites soon enough! I love doing set ups like these to show how little she was for such a short period of time.
Mom and Dad have been thinking about this newborn photography session with me for a long time and brought in some great props to incorporate into the photography session like these two beautiful blankets. We use the one with the saying “You are Loved” as a backdrop to this little one can see clearly SHE IS LOVED as one day she will look back on these images and know her parents adore her! And that right there is why we do what we do.
