We are so excited to offer a photography class for middle school and high school kids this Winter right at our photography studio in Kalamazoo, MI. This is a great way to have your kids learn the basics of a DSLR camera and have a great time learning at a professional photography studio.
Details:
The class will be 8 weeks starting January 23rd, 2024. Last class would be March 12th, 2024
Class time will be 3:15pm-4pm.
Students must be 12 years-18years old. Sorry, no parents allowed. If there is enough interest to offer an adult class, we are happy to consider that. We can not offer discounts for siblings, but they can share a family camera for the class.
The cost is $300 for the class. We ask for a venmo payment of $50 to hold the spot. Remainder balance is due by check or cash at the first class. Spots will be reserved on a first pay, first get basis.
Students will need a DSLR camera with interchangeable lens. Canon is what I have always used so if you need to buy a camera, I suggest Canon. Click here for a recommended option if you are looking for a camera!
The class will focus on learning the basic settings of each camera: ISO, shutter speed, aperture, white balance, and composition. We will spend each class learning and then practicing. I will offer suggestion of assignments to try on their own. There will be NO homework.
If the weather or illness by me the instructor cancels a class, we will offer a make up class at the end of the 8 weeks, most likely that Tuesday after the 8 week class time frame is completed.
Minimum of four students required for the class to take place and a maximum of 8 students will be accepted to keep the class small and very personal for each student. If demand is high enough to offer another class, we are happy to do so.
A little about me, Melissa, the instructor.
I have been in business now for over 16 years. Photographing weddings, babies, families, high school seniors and business headshots. I have taught photography classes for many years and enjoy teaching the basic techniques and settings for people to then know how to use that nice camera they have to it’s fullest capacity.
I have been in my current photography studio for almost eight years, and had a photography studio in Downtown Kalamazoo for 7 years prior to this location. I just love my studio, it is my happy place and I am thrilled to share this space with young people wanting to learn more about photography.
